Concept

This project explores connection across distance through remote portraiture. Using video calls as the primary medium, I photograph muses located anywhere in the world—bridging physical separation through a shared, intentional visual process.

By combining digital screenshots with 35mm film photography (capturing the screen itself), the work blends immediacy with texture, creating layered images that reflect both presence and absence. The result is a series of portraits that feel intimate, collaborative, and slightly surreal—documenting human connection in a digitally mediated world.

Process

Each session is designed to be simple, guided, and collaborative:

  • We connect via video call (phone or computer).

  • You’ll set up your device in a stable position with good natural or soft lighting.

  • I will guide you through 6–8 poses, which I repeat consistently across all muses to create a cohesive series.

  • During the session, I will:

    • Capture live screenshots

    • Photograph the screen using 35mm film, adding analog texture and depth

The direction is minimal and open—focused on presence rather than performance.

  • Duration: ~20 minutes

  • Location: Wherever you are in the world

  • Setup: Phone or computer with camera, stable surface, and good lighting

  • No prior modeling experience required

This is not about perfection or performance—it’s about subtlety, presence, and connection. The work often feels quiet, observational, and slightly fragmented, embracing both the intimacy and limitations of digital interaction.
